The right vehicle!
In many travel guides it says road conditions in Namibia are very good and a 4x4 vehicle is not necessary, except for places like Sossusvlei, Kaokoland, Caprivi, Mahango game Park or Bushmanland.
Over the past years we have specialized in 4x4 vehicles, not because a 4x4 vehicle is necessary, but what you do need is a safe, strong, spacious, higher and reliable vehicle with a good ground clearance. For these reasons we use a TOYOTA 4x4 Single Cab for 2 persons or a Toyota 4x4 D/Cab for up to 5 persons.
Nearly 80% of the roads in Namibia are gravel roads. Gravel roads are very dangerous because of loose gravel, potholes and sometimes they can be very bumpy.
Both types of vehicle are very strong build and they can handle these road conditions. You don't have to be afraid that you land up next to the road if road conditions become bad, except if you drive with too high speed.
In the rainy season grass grows next to the roads and a lot of small game like warthogs eating next to the road. Because of the height of those vehicles you can easily see them and prevent a possible accident. If you like making photographs in Game parks you will appreciate the height of these vehicles because it is easier to make pictures out of a higher vehicle than a small vehicle.
Because of the good ground clearance what these vehicles have, you don't have to be afraid to bump your car underneath and damage something.
Space is surely a very important factor. These vehicles have enough space even while travelling with luggage, petrol and water cans, extra spare wheel, cool box and if you go camping, you camping equipment will also fit.
