Wherever you are heading to in the north of Namibia - Gabus Lodge is the ideal location to make your visit to the Etosha National Park, the Caprivi or the Bushmanland even more exciting. Gabus Game Ranch Lodge is far more than just a stopover in the common sense as it reflects the diverse attractions of Namibia: an enchanting ambience marked by the warm hospitality and the vast patches of land which are home to an unusually dense game stock. The word game in the name of the lodge says it all.

For this reason, you can view various species of game at Gabus which you will not find in the Etosha Pan: water buck, black wildebeest, the common impala and many more. On the game drives you will get so close to those animals as hardly anywhere else while you are granted informative insight into the habits of the wild animals by your local professional guide.

Another fascinating experience typical for Gabus is the undisturbed watching of the indigenous exotic birds. Gabus provides a home for more than 200 different species of birds as you can witness perfectly well from the hides close to the various waterholes - as long as you like and without having to show consideration for the needs of other tourists.

Even your urge for exercise will be satisfied at Gabus as the hikes (accompanied by a guide if requested) will lead you to the historical points of reference of the first white settlers in the region - the ancestors of the host at Gabus. They had set up their original domicile in the Uisib Mountains, not far from the lodge now, in order to cultivate their newly acquired land. The Uisib Mountain, too, has a traditional significance: as the highest elevation at the edge of the Etosha Pan it was used as a heliograph station at the time.

The natural wilderness of the Uisib Mountains has a fascinating and magical impact on the hiker. You will discover unknown plants and herbs, see game crossing the tracks from far, be tempted to see strange impressions in the bizarre rock formations, explore the mystic world of a stalactite cave and fathom out the sense of ancient bushmen paintings.
Back at the Gabus Lodge and still overwhelmed by the activities of a fulfilling day, relaxing hours at the swimming pool guarantee deep relaxation and even then when the whole day was used for nothing else but relaxing.

Gabus Lodge offers another special feature: every bungalow has its own veranda clearly overlooking the close-by waterhole. In the same way as the lodge presents an oasis for the guests and the host family, the waterhole embodies this for all animals and is thus their preferred meeting point.

Due to all the loving details marking a warm welcome it is not surprising that other facets of this hospitality are also of special quality. Hence, the guests have the opportunity to do game viewing on horse back - maybe instead of the usual game drives - and they are, furthermore, encouraged to visit the farm-owned museum and find out about the history of the local culture.

As unusual as those activities are they express the deep roots of the Kuehl family in this part of Namibia which has been their home for more than a century. And even more: they embody the sincerity with which the hosts of Gabus value the originality of the landscape. The fact that they developed the desire to bring the attraction of the region formerly called "Copper Triangle" (Kupferdreieck) closer to the guests, can be seen in the various activities which, in a huge circumference, are solely offered by the Gabus Lodge. For the hosts it is simply important that the guests feel completely comfortable.

Another unique feature of the special hospitality is the exquisite character of the meals which even surprises gourmets and connoisseurs when it comes to the select and delicious cuisine.

It takes time to indulge in all of this. Time which you should definitely bring along when visiting Gabus Lodge. For one reason, the most important one: to turn your visit to Namibia into an unforgettable holiday!
