WATERBERG PLATEAU PARK

The Waterberg Plateau Park includes the magnificent Waterberg, a major landmark of the area. One of its functions is to serve as a breeding ground for endangered game species (e.g. Rhinoceros, buffalo, sable antelope, roan). Tourists may enjoy one of the finest resorts in Namibia, the Waterberg Resort.

Open throughout the year. Park office hours and gate hours: from 08:00h to sunset. Overnight visitors with reserved accommodation may enter up to 21:00h. Day visitors have to arrange a visit in advance with the resort management at tel (067) 305901/2/3 and have to leave the Park by 18:00h.

Restaurant:
Open: 07:00 - 08:30, 12:00 - 13:30, 19:00 - 21:00
Bar open: 12:00 - 14:00, 18:00 - 22:00

Large groups must book restaurant meals at least 24 hours in advance.

Join the daily game drives that take you up on to the Waterberg Plateau in four-wheel-drive vehicles. Please consult the reception for further details.

No pets allowed. No motor cycles.


Waterberg Wilderness Trail:
One guided hike on every 2nd, 3rd and 4th weekend of each month, from April to November. Hikers depart on Thursday at 14:00h at the Onjoka Gate and arrive back on early Sunday afternoon. A group is limited to 8 persons. Hikers have to provide own food and sleeping bags. Bookings only through the Central Reservations Office in Windhoek, well in advance.


Unguided hiking trail:
This is a 50 km long trail undertaken AT OWN RISK, without a guide. Open from April to November. Hikers depart every Wednesday from the Resort office at 09:00h. The trail is completed in 4 days and ends on Saturdays. A group has to consist of 3 to 10 persons. Hikers have to provide for themselves and have to take all equipment, gear and food along. Bookings only in advance at the Central Reservations Office in Windhoek.
