FISHRIVER CANYON & HOBAS

The Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in the southern hemisphere and the main scenic attraction in the far south of Namibia. Hobas, a campsite, is situated 10 km from the main view point along the access road to the canyon.

Fish River Hiking Trail:

The Fish River hiking trail which starts from the main view point near Hobas and ends at Ai-Ais, is one of the most unique trails in the world. It is approx. 80 km long, takes 4 to 5 days to complete and is open from 15 April to 15 September. Groups should comprise of a minimum of 3 & a maximum of 40 persons. Children under 12 yeas are not permitted.

Due to the high demand, reservation should be made well in advance. Reservations and payments only through the Central Reservations Office in Windhoek.

Hikers have to report at Hobas before commencing with the hike, for submitting recent medical certificates of fitness and to complete an indemnity form. Hikers are advised to stay over at Hobas the night before the hike commences.

Own transport to and from Hobas and the starting point must be arranged.
