Often we have been asked whether camels are not suited better to desert conditions than horses and how someone without riding experience could enjoy such a venture. We met the challenge and started riding camels; if not on horseback, why not try a camel?
Actually there are no more riding camels in this country, although the German and British troops had regularly used them some centuries ago for warfare, transportation and patrols.

Within one year we got thirteen dromedary camels (some of them wild ancestors of early century police camels), tamed and trained them and took them across the desert a few times. Now we are quite proud to present a well-behaved, reliable group of riding camels which could take you high above ground (2m) across soft desert sand for an adventurous trip never to be forgotten.
These camel trails are based on many years of experience with regard to riding horses under harsh desert conditions. Whether you ride in the northern Namib from Spitzkoppe to Brandberg or in the central Namib desert or go for a combination of horses and camels suited for groups of riders and non-riders, you will certainly travel safely and comfortably.
Each saddle is handmade and especially designed for a certain camel, our camel drivers have as much experience in handling their animals as do the riding guides.
They have been in different areas of this country on demand, e.g. at Bitterwasser in the Kalahari and for a very special new years event at Sossusvlei. Anyone who has lived with these charismatic animals in the spectacular desert for a few days under bright sunshine or unlimited stars will keep talking about this unforgettable African adventure.
